Just In: Jose Mourinho sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager

Tottenham Hotspur has fired Jose Mourinho as their manager after 18 months in charge, according to multiple reports.

The announcement comes just hours after the Premier League club announced its plans to join a European Super League.

The 58-year-old had been in charge of Spurs since November 2019 after taking over from Mauricio Pochettino who’s now enjoying a good stint with Paris Saint Germain.

Spurs have endured a disastrous 2021, slipping down the Premier League at an alarming speed while also crashing out of the Europa League.

Mourinho has been under increasing pressure and has now been given the boot by Daniel Levy.

The club according to an Athletic report stated that the club was unhappy with Mourinho’s constant criticism of the players in public and very conscious of how the fans had turned on Mourinho.

In another report, it s believed that Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho after an ‘explosive’ morning where he refused to take players onto the training ground over the club’s proposed European Super League admission.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason is set to take over as caretaker manager alongside Chris Powell until the end of the season.

A permanent replacement for ex-Chelsea and Manchester United boss Mourinho is expected to be named in the summer.
