BREAKING: Akufo-Addo leads as EC certifies results from 11 regions

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has taken a lead in the presidential race as the Electoral Commission of Ghana has so far certified and declared via its social media handles results from 11 regions.
The commission is expected to receive, certify and declared the entire results Wednesday, December 9 at the Accra International Conference Centre after it failed to meet its initial target.
The results so far put the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akufo-Addo in a lead with a total of 3, 986,803 votes   while the National Democratic Congress’s John Mahama follows with 3, 528, 894 – a difference of 457,909.
NDC’s John Mahama was in ‘comfortable lead’ late Tuesday when the EC released the results for seven regions, but the addition of four regions – Ashanti, Savannah, Upper East and Western Regions saw sharp dive on his numbers.
What is easily noticeable in the latest regional results is the numbers coming from the Ashanti Region where the NPP garnered a whopping 1, 795, 824 while the NDC tags along with 653,149.
Reports from the region however suggest that executives of the NDC are contesting the numbers coming from the Ashanti region.
